Lyon Science Transfert, the Technology Transfer office of Université de Lyon, supports researchers from Lyon and Saint Etienne’s public laboratories by transferring their research results and inventions to the marketplace for commercial development.
Missions of Lyon Science Transfert are:
• Raising awareness of technology transfer among researchers
• Detection of inventions in partner laboratories
• Maturation of inventions (proof of concept and prototype)
• Licensing and transfer to players in the socio-economic world
• Industrial property management for some members of Université de Lyon.

CLICK-TEX: Thermostable and non hydrolysable functionalization of technical textiles through nanoparticles

What we offer:
The laboratory has developed a new method based on the «click chemistry» to graft sustainably hybrid multifunctional nanoparticles on textile fibres. Sustainable functionalization of cellulosic fibres is made by thermostable and non hydrolysable covalent binding. Complex chemical structures such as polymeric nanoparticles can be grafted. Obtained smart textiles are more resistant to washes and keep their cosmetic function when worn.

Advantages:
- "click chemistry": process without loss of particles (high yield) in any reaction medium, non toxic and without heating.

A new biodegradable, water-soluble bio-plastic for bio-packaging

What we offer:
The laboratory has set up a new milk protein based bio-plastic which is biodegradable and water-soluble. In the form of granules, this new material can be transformed using all conventional plastic industry techniques such as extrusion, injection or thermoforming. In this way, films, bags and various objects can be manufactured for many applications. The manufacturing process is clean and does not use too much energy.

Advantages:

- clean process (water/ glycerol, low energy: temperature < 100 °C )

A new organic herbicide

What we offer:
Only few herbicides preparations from natural origin are available. Numerous natural compounds have shown herbicide potential but they are most often not easily accessible and consequently difficult to value in the industry.
Myrica gale is a plant naturally abundant in Europe. It is traditionally used as food aroma and then it is not toxic. The laboratory has shown that Myrica gale plants extracts or isolated compounds from fruits, leaves or seeds are able to slow down or inhibit plants development. The active natural compound is identified and is close to sulcotrione (synthetic herbicide).

A new method to measure vapor or sublimation pressures in a large temperature range (20°C to 380°C)

What we offer:
Knowing the vapor pressure of a compound is necessary for any process of separation, purification or extraction. The developed apparatus is very simple of use and it is suitable for the study of compounds of different volatility.
The originality of the present apparatus is due to its relative method to determine the vapor or sublimation pressures of the studied sample. Hence very low vapor (or sublimation) pressures (50 kPa to 10-5 Pa) can be measured accurately (uncertainty of 5%) in a large temperature range: 20°C to 380°C.

Quick authentication of liquids and gases

What we offer:
The laboratory has developed a new device for the quick and accurate identification and anthentication of liquids or gases.
A characteristic image of the sample is created following its deposit on a plate. The surface of the plate is specific to the analyzed liquid or gaz. The device can be miniaturized.

New reinforcement system for reinforced concrete structures

What we offer:
The laboratory has developed a new technology of strengthening reinforced concrete structures. The method is efficient, cheap and compatible with the environmental criteria.
The new system of reinforcement is developed by bonding the reinforcement elements made of ceramic matrix reinforced by Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) pultruded rebars using internal prestressing. Quantity of material used is reduced. Mechanical performance of the reinforced concrete structures are increased in service and at failure. Bending stiffness is improved thanks to increased inertia of the flat of strengthening. In addition, reinforcement ends geometry can be adapted to limit delamination phenomena.

MPC@CB: a software for online optimal closed loop control of industrial process

What we offer:
Model Predictive Control (MPC) is employed in a wide variety of real-time control industrial processes. Indeed process optimization is more and more necessary facing production costs reduction and environmental impact. For this, the use of advanced command softwares such as MPC@CB (Model Predictive Control at Claude Bernard) is highly recommended to optimally control a process. Through the automated control with MPC@CB, and based on a model and at least one online measure, final products may feature end use properties more homogenous with respect to the initial production specifications. During the operation, production cost criteria is optimized (minimizing energy costs and/or operating time…) while handling some constraints (safety, operating zone…).
