National Institute for Agronomic Research (INRA). Laboratory of Environmental Biotechnology (LBE)
Avenue des Etangs
The Parc Méditerranéen de l'Innovation (PMI) is a unique and outstanding location where research, higher education and support for innovative companies come together on the concept of the environmental biorefinery.
The LBE, partly located in the PMI, is a research unit of the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA)
The aim of the research conducted at the LBE is the treatment and the valorization of emissions linked with human activities: liquid effluents, solid organic wastes or specific biomasses such as micro or macro-algae. The production of bioenergy (eg., via biogas and bio-hydrogen) is a major valorization pathway studied in the laboratory. Research conducted at the LBE covers a large range of scientific disciplines: microbiology, microbial ecology, biological engineering, process engineering, modeling, automatics, lifecycle analysis, project engineering and technology transfer.
The LBE is a world leader laboratory in the field of anaerobic digestion.

The Parc Méditerranéen de l'Innovation (PMI) as a platform for (i) exchanging and sharing knowledge and know-how, (ii) supporting the developpement of innovative companies, in the fied of new environmental technologies.
What we offer:
Research and development in the field of biological treatment of solid wastes and liquid effluents of domestic agriculture and industry origin, are conducted in the heart of LBE laboratories and technological hall. LBE has many shared analytical means and a technical team who can design and implement innovative experimental devices. Located in the heart of the PMI de Narbonne, the second technology hall of LBE is part of a place of exchange and emulation dedicated to biotechnology.
The PMI includes a research and technology transfer center (INRA-LBE), a business incubator hotel for innovative companies (Innoveum), a business unit (INRA Transfert Environnement) and the University Institute of Technology (IUT) “Chemical Engineering - Process Engineering” of the University of Perpignan.
What are we looking for:
We are looking for establishing contact with research partners and industrial companies in the field related to the treatment and valorization of pollutants.
